Home Business – Frequently Updated Content Brings Traffic

Do you own a home business? If so, I am sure that you would love to have hundreds, or even thousands of visitors frequenting your website daily, right? The sad thing is that so many home business owners are convinced that the only way to make this a reality is by spending thousands of dollars on advertising campaigns. The good news is that this is not true.

This might be a new concept to you, but the truth is that there are several methods of getting targeted traffic to your website which will cost you nothing. This article will focus on one such method. This is the method of consistently updating the content of your website with information relevant to your subject of interest. Doing this will attract the search engines, and their visitors.

Often times I read the fallacy that “meta tags” are what attract the search engines to your website. Not true. Don’t get me wrong. Every website owner should use meta tags on their website, as they are relevant. However, the number one thing that search engines are looking for is information in the form of content. Websites with more unique content on a specific topic will receive more search engine traffic for queries related to that topic.

Having said all of that, it is important that the content of your website is relevant to the terms for which you are attempting to rank. In essence, you must utilize the keywords and/or key phrases which you are targeting throughout the content of your website. Specifically, you should use the targeted keyword in the first sentence of your content, as well as the last paragraph, and a couple of times within the body. Just make sure that you do not overdo it. This is what is commonly known as “keyword stuffing”. If the search engines find you guilty of this, you run the risk of them penalizing your website.

I know that there are a few of you, or maybe even the majority of your who cannot change the content of your home business website. It is simply too important to the message which you are attempting to convey to visitors. No problem. This is where a blog comes in very handy. A blog can be added to your website as a sub-page, and can be updated frequently without affecting the content of your home page.

How much unique content your website will require will depend in large part on the subject matter of your website. For instance, if you are targeting a niche market with average competition, you should be able to do very well. However, if you are targeting a broad market which is highly saturated, chances are that you are going to need a great deal of content to get noticed by the search engines.

Okay, I realize that this takes some time and effort. However, who knows about topics related to your home business better than you? The fact of the matter is that you should be able to add relevant content to your website by simply spending 20-30 minutes per day. Doing so will generate a following for your website who will be waiting anxiously for your next post.

If you are not the best writer, or feel that you do not have the time to spare each day updating your content, there is no need to panic. There are several services which will write your relevant content for you very inexpensively.

Just realize that once you have a following, these people will begin to trust you, and be receptive to you. This is one of the most effective ways to get interested visitors to your website. Receptive readers will turn into receptive customers for your home business.
