Ceiling Fans -Both Efficient And Elegant.

by Erika Sundelin

Most people look at ceiling fans and think that there is not much to them. I would have to disagree. I have installed fans in every room in my house. I found that the fans bring a type of elegance to each room. They also are great energy savers. Now, any situation that can bring beauty to my home and save me money at the same time is a plus in my book.

Basically a ceiling fan is just angled blades that are attached to a electric motor. They can run clockwise or counter clockwise depending if you want to blow air down or pull air up. When the fan does this it mixes the cold and hot air creating a even climate. This in it self will cause your heating and cooling unit to work less. This in turn will be a big energy saver within your home.

In the cold season your fan will take your hot air from the top and push it down to the bottom. This will mix it with the cold air at the bottom. This in turn will keep the room at one temperature. Keeping the room temperature level will help save energy. If your heater does not have to work as hard to heat a room it will not use as much power. This will be a big help on you energy bill.

Your ceiling fan can also be an energy saver in the summer time also. By taking the hot air from the ceiling and pushing it down to the cool air on the floor circulates the air keeping it at one temperature. This will keep your cooling unit from cutting on and off all the time which will save you money. With the money that you save on your power bill it will not take very long to make back the money that you invested in your fans.

Ceiling fans are great when designing an elegant look for your rooms. They come in many different styles, shapes, color, and sizes. You can bring life to you room just with this simple fan. You have a choice between one with pull strings, you can get controls that mount on the wall, for us less active folks like me you can even get remote controls. They come with lights so that you can brighten up you favorite room. All in all in just one fan the design savvy can add a look to their rooms that will amaze forever.

Another great thing about ceiling fans are that they are low maintenance. All they need is just a little dusting every now and then. Now, it is important for two reasons that you dust your fans at least once a week. First when dust builds up on you blade it will kill the air that is blowing and also make the fan have to work harder. Second if to much dust gets in to the motor it can cause problems with your fan. But all you have to do is get a feather duster and go over it about once a week. This will take about five minutes and add years to the life of your ceiling fan.

Installing your Ceiling fan is not hard at all. Some even come with a cord that you can run down the wall. Most will install in a light fixture and in some case you may have to run wire. My suggestion to you is that if you do not have experience with electricity that you get someone who does. Even though ceiling fans install pretty easily you are still dealing with major volts of electricity. So if you are not sure go get some one to help that knows. Even if you have to pay someone you will come out better in the long run.

So that, my friends, is the world of ceiling fans. Let recap I am going to get me some ceiling fans. I am going to bring beauty and elegance to my rooms. I am going to save money on my energy. I am going to stay cozy warm in the winter and cooling in the summer. Sounds like a winning situation all the way around. So get out there have some fun designing your rooms and by all means be safe when you install your brand new ceiling fan.
